Ooni Fyra 12 Pizza Oven Black Friday Deals 2022
If you’re looking for a simple, easy-to-use, wood-fired pizza oven, you’ve come to the right place. The Ooni Fyra 12 is the best and cheapest model Ooni makes, and if you want portability, it’s ideal.
It’s small and light, meaning it’s easy to handle. It’s made of heavy-duty aluminum and steel so it won’t rust. It weighs just 22 pounds which is great for taking it around your garden. It doesn’t come with a folding table which is a shame, but it’s still the best outdoor pizza oven for the price.
As the name suggests, it’s not designed for the ultimate cook-off competitions. Ooni says it can create pizzas up to 12 inches across, which is pretty good for the price. I didn’t have the space to try it out properly, so I’m not sure how much the pizza size will limit you.
Ooni states that you can cook one pizza for 8-10 minutes, depending on the size, which is the perfect length of time. As you might have guessed, this pizza oven is not very good at temperature control. You can’t see the cooking pizza, so you must rely on sound and smell to tell if it’s done.
As it heats up, the pizza oven gets hot. At first, when you put the fire in, the outside starts to smoke a little. But after a few minutes, once the fire has burnt down to embers, you’ll notice that the inside is scorching. This is where I found my biggest issue with the Ooni.
I kept the fire burning for about 10-15 minutes before feeling the heat inside my face and hands. My face started to sting from the heat, and my hands started to blister. My hands were painful, and even my arms and shoulders ached. I’ve never experienced anything like it, and I don’t recommend doing this unless you have thick skin. The heat was so intense that I couldn’t leave the area for more than 15 minutes.
So, it’s not that the Ooni isn’t capable of cooking pizzas. It’s just that this kind of heat is hazardous. The Ooni website warns that ‘if not used with caution and common sense, it can cause burns, eye damage, and severe injuries.’ I don’t know how you would use this safely, but I’m glad it’s not for professional chefs or pizza fanatics.
It’s not meant to be cooked for more than 15-20 minutes, and the heat only comes from a fire. But for an affordable outdoor pizza oven, this is overkilled. If you’re planning to cook a pizza or two, you may be able to get away with this, but only under the supervision of an experienced person.
It’s certainly not a wrong choice and is a good option for those who want to buy an inexpensive, lightweight, easy-to-use, portable pizza oven that will provide a warm meal on a sunny day. Just make sure you know what you’re getting into.
