Flightscope Mevo Black Friday & Cyber Monday Deals 2021
The FlightScope Mevo launch monitor is a breakthrough in the entry-level launch monitors that I think most golfers have been waiting for. While a very small unit, it provides many of the same features that you would find in more expensive units from other manufacturers. Also, check out Bushnell Pro XE Black Friday.
I wanted to get my hands on this unit and test it out in the real world, so I hooked up with Club Champion and we got it in their facility for a full day of testing. This article will give all of you some insight into this product and whether or not it is worth spending your hard-earned bucks on.
The FlightScope Mevo has many standard features that you would find on most other launch monitors that are currently on the market. Those include measures ball speed, launch angle, carry & total distance Measuring Parameters: Launch angle, clubhead speed, ball speed, smash factor, spin rate & launch monitor type calibration. Ability to measure up to 70 different clubs Measures 28 parameters within 1 second
This is one of the smallest units on the market right now. With dimensions of 8” x 4.5” x 0.75” (20cm x 11cm x 2cm), this product is pretty much the size of your smartphone, and can easily be fit into a full golf bag with no issues. The unit has the ability to fit onto any tripod or mounting device that uses 1/4-inch threading, which makes it very versatile for you to test out your new set of irons on the range and see how they perform.
This product has the ability to give you post-shot data that is very impressive given its size and weight. You can choose between either a thumbnail view or a timeline view of all your stats, which makes it very user-friendly.
This product uses FlightScope’s semiconductor lasers to capture ball flight data in three dimensions, which is something that other higher-priced units don’t offer. The Mevo gives you the ability to see your ball shape and compare it to others, so you know where you need to work on your ball flight.
This is a great function that the Mevo offers and it allows you to set designated max and min readings for the speed, launch angle, and carry distance parameters within each club. Once you hit one of those speeds or launch angles, the Mevo will automatically stop so you don’t have to worry about burning through expensive balls trying to hit one of these parameters.
High-Speed Video Capture
This unit has high-speed video capture that can record up to 240 frames per second at 1920 x 1080 resolution or 320 fps at 1280 x 720 resolution. This gives you the ability to see your ball flight in slow motion, so you can really study swings and understand why you are doing well or not doing well.
The Mevo also features a side-view technology that allows users to take a look at the left and right-side launch monitor angles so you can see how the monitor is reading your ball flight. Most other units also have this feature but it is nice to see a unit in this price range.
The Mevo has the ability to be used with Garmin devices that allow users to transfer data wirelessly. For example, I was able to send data directly from the Mevo to my Garmin watch using built-in Bluetooth technology, which made it nice not to have to take notes while on the range. This is something that you really can’t do with other launch monitors in this price range.
I’ve been able to see how my swing has improved over time, and the FlightScope Play is a great tool for that. It does have its limitations but if you take care of your device it will last years. The battery life isn’t amazing, so make sure you are charging it regularly or invest in an external charger like this one from ClamCase. But overall, I think the size and weight of the unit are perfect for carrying around on trips when you can use it as a golf club tracker too!
